Samii
We believe eating should never be dangerous, and everyone should be able to enjoy it. That's why when we found out that approximately 32 million people in the US have food allergies, we dreamed up Samii for the 2020 Global Wellness Summit. Samii is a set of reusable utensils that constantly detect allergenic proteins in food to prevent cross-contamination, with the goal of seamlessly integrating Samii into everyday life. Samii took 1st Place at the 2020 Global Wellness Summit.

Insights
We gathered our information from digital surveys and face-to-face interviews, and we realized that people undergo a significant amount of stress when ensuring food safety.
“Most people don’t realize how careful we have to be about food allergies in social situations.”
“I hate that I’m so emotional about the constant stress of food.”
Building the Brand
Dealing with allergies can be difficult, so we wanted to create a brand that talked about allergies in a friendly and approachable way. Although Samii is meant for everyone, it was important that it was designed to be understood by children. We created a visual system that includes an alphabet soup font, food, and other supporting visuals.
